Accounting Clerk

Job Title:

Accounting Clerk – $13.82/hour, 28 hours/week, 52 weeks contract

Job Description:

  • Reconcile banks accounts
  • Enter financial transactions into the appropriate computer software
  • Record cash disbursement, and expenses on a timely basic
  • Check staff reimbursement forms for accuracy
  • Calculate HST proportion of expenses and receivable before paying bills
  • Prepare cheques for payments
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Allocate cash deposit to proper accounts and periods
  • Complete duties of photocopying, collating, mailing, faxing, filing, according to bookkeeping procedures
  • Produce financial reports such as completing balance sheets (costs compared to income)
  • Perform office-based duties required for efficient and effective functioning of the organization
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma, must have basic math and computer skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets and bookkeeping software.
  • Strong accountability, able to follow-up on assigned tasks and assume responsibility of outcomes related to assigned tasks
  • Proactive and able to seek support in order to solve problems when needed
  • Resourceful and self-motivated, able to identify tasks and duties needed to complete in order to contribute to overall mission and goals of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with ability to mediate and negotiate with others
  • Possess organizational skills, able to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines consistently

Other requirements:

  • Successful applicant will be required to complete a police check
  • This is a position under Investing In Neighborhoods Program, interested candidates must be Ontario Works participants living in Toronto.
