VWAT Family Services is proud to offer a wide variety of programs and services aimed at youth, newcomers and seniors. All of this is done in an effort to foster positive community development, encourage community integration for newcomers, promote healthy living and advance education.
Some of the Programs and Services that we offer include: providing counselling to new and existing members in the community, summer camps/tutoring for youth, and fitness programs for seniors. VWAT is also happy to provide our community members with discounted and free tickets to places such as: Ontario Science Center, Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), and the Art Gallery of Toronto (AGO).
With the help of OSC’s Community Pass Program, the AGO’s Community Membership Program, and the ROM’s Community Access Network, VWAT is happy to announce free admission tickets for the Royal Ontario Museum and the Art Gallery of Ontario. We are also offering discounted admission tickets for the Ontario Science Center. More information on the different programs is displayed below.
Ontario Science Centre (OSC)

The OSC offers exciting hands-on experiences for guests to engage in science exhibits and demonstrations. Exhibitions will delight, inform, and challenge your thinking and understanding about our world. VWAT offers admission tickets for low-income clients to the Science Centre for only $2.00/adults and free of charge for children (age 3-17), and seniors (age 65+). Infants 2 and under always enter free.
Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) – More Info
You are invited to explore the AGO’s collection of more than 90,000 works of art—from classical to cutting-edge contemporary pieces.VWAT can now lend out AGO family membership cards to newcomers and low-income families. Each card provides admission to 2 adults and up to 5 children/youth ages 17 and under. One-time use passes are also available.
Royal Ontario Museam (ROM) – More Info
Discover and enjoy extraordinary experiences of science and civilization at the ROM, one of the world’s leading museums of natural history and world cultures. VWAT will soon host group visits for newcomer clients to the ROM. Join us to explore the world from dinosaurs to outer space. Stay tuned to find out more about VWAT’s next planned trip to the ROM. We provide support, advocacy and information to families and individuals in the areas of:

We offer programs to assist individuals in strengthening their English language skills and building their knowledge of Canada to prepare for the Canadian Citizenship Test and English Conversation Circles to increase their ability and confidence to communicate in a new language.
VWAT is a place for seniors to socialize, meet new people, connect to resources, and contribute to community activities. Our seniors enjoy activities from weekly fitness classes and neighbourhood walks, to healthy eating and cooking classes. Come out to laugh, learn, exercise and socialize with us.
Designed for youth aged 13-24, VWAT’s Youth Programming believes all youth have skills and strengths. VWAT strives to offer opportunities for youth to capitalize on those qualities and show the great things they are capable of. – More Info
Join to give your input in skill building workshops, lead critical discussions, participate in volunteer opportunities, get involved in recreational activities, and go on field trips to explore Toronto. Join to build skills, make new friends, and contribute back to your community. Earn volunteer hours as well.
The tutoring program is a self-sustained program, hosted at Oakdale Community Centre each Sunday throughout the year by program staff and volunteers. English and Math are the two main subjects that are tutored. Every year the tutoring program teaches and supports roughly 200 students in the English and Math classes from grade 1 to grade 12.
