Vietnamese Tet Celebration 2017 on Feb.6 at VWAT
Every year, VWAT Family Services Board members, staff and senior members come together to celebrate the Lunar New Year with a potluck party. We also take this opportunity to recognise the commitment and dedication of our Senior Volunteers in our community. This event brings senior community members together to share the wonderful Lunar New Year spirit with one another. We share joy and laughter together as a community, and continue building the wonderful friendships of VWAT’s Seniors Program where participants become long-term friends and companions.
Last Year’s Vietnamese Tet celebration at VWAT’s office on Feb.5, 2016:
The event commenced with performances by seniors including sharing some songs and poems. Mrs Binh-Minh Hoang, VWAT’s Chairperson, shared warm New Year’s greetings and wishes to all, followed by many more warm wishes from senior participants. A celebration was made with delicious traditional home-made food brought in by loyal senior members who have been with VWAT for years.
Participants enjoyed themselves with various typical Vietnamese dishes such as spring rolls, sticky rice, BBQ pork, duck and chicken , and especially Bánh Chưng & Bánh Tét for the New Year. We all had an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the taste and spirit of a traditional New Year celebration with music, laughter and best wishes for the New Year.
