La solitudine, in particolare, ha cambiato il modo in cui ci relazioniamo socialmente durante il giorno e alcuni esperti affermano che le persone potrebbero continuare a lottare anche dopo la pandemia.<\/p>\n<p>Secondo l&#8217;Associazione Canadese per la Salute Mentale (CMHA), molto prima della pandemia, la solitudine veniva considerata un problema crescente di salute pubblica, tanto da essere definita un&#8217;epidemia.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Shields, CEO del capitolo della CMHA per la regione di York e South Simcoe, afferma che la solitudine episodica \u00e8 qualcosa che tutti sperimentano. Tuttavia, quando si tratta di solitudine cronica, Shields sostiene che \u00e8 cumulativa e pu\u00f2 avere un effetto drammatico sulle persone. Alcune ricerche hanno rivelato che la solitudine cronica ha gli stessi effetti fisici sul corpo di fumare 15 sigarette al giorno. Non c&#8217;\u00e8 un modo unico in cui le persone la vivono, ma si pu\u00f2 osservare che il loro sistema immunitario \u00e8 compromesso e lo stress pu\u00f2 causare insonnia. La solitudine cronica pu\u00f2 anche influenzare i modelli alimentari, il metabolismo e aumentare i fattori di rischio per la salute mentale. Molti canadesi sperimentano la solitudine cronica, compresi quelli delle comunit\u00e0 emarginate, le persone che vivono da sole, gli anziani, gli studenti e i giovani.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Shimi Kang, uno psichiatra di Vancouver, afferma sempre che l&#8217;isolamento sociale \u00e8 una forma di tortura per l&#8217;essere umano. Porta prevedibilmente a ansia, depressione e, alla fine, anche a psicosi e pensieri suicidi. Fortunatamente, il cervello umano \u00e8 resiliente. Se facciamo quelle cose che abbiamo sentito un milione di volte: routine di cura di s\u00e9, sonno regolare, esercizio fisico, trascorrere del tempo all&#8217;aperto nella natura&#8230; tutte queste cose sono antidepressivi naturali, potenziatori del cervello e possono aiutarci attraverso questa pandemia e oltre.<\/p>\n<p>Secondo la CMHA, i modi per affrontare la solitudine includono evitare di confrontarsi con gli altri, concedersi del tempo, soprattutto quando si affrontano grandi cambiamenti o transizioni nella vita, trovare modi per sfruttare il tempo da soli, come coltivare un nuovo hobby, e lavorare sulle proprie connessioni sociali. Anche durante la pandemia, anche se aiutare gli altri pu\u00f2 essere difficile, ci sono ancora molti modi in cui le persone possono aiutarsi reciprocamente, come mettersi in contatto con le persone tramite Zoom o una chiamata telefonica. Oppure pu\u00f2 essere qualcosa di ancora pi\u00f9 semplice come spalare la neve del vialetto di un vicino.<\/p>\n<p>Tuttavia, per alcuni potrebbe essere necessario chiedere aiuto. La CMHA offre supporto gratuito telefonicamente per le persone con depressione, ansia, stress e preoccupazione lievi o moderate.
