On June 27, 2025, VWAT Family Services proudly hosted our 3rd Annual Multiculturalism Day Celebration at Etienne Brûlée Park, a scenic space along the Humber River with trees and open shade that provided the perfect setting for community connection. The event brought together approximately 300 guests for a day of food, performances, and activities that reflected both the vibrancy of Canada’s cultural mosaic and the richness of our Vietnamese heritage.

Cultural Activities & Performances
Guests enjoyed a lively lineup of recurring favorites, including Zumba, karaoke, and cultural performances that filled the park with music, energy, and joy. A highlight was the impressive Tai Chi performance, featuring over 40 performers who captivated the crowd with grace and unity.

Cooking Competition

The annual cooking competition saw a fantastic turnout of 12 participants eager to share their culinary creations. The winner impressed the judges with a creative spread made entirely from coconut—including coconut oil and an arrangement of dried coconut strips—all prepared from scratch.

Youth Engagement, Sports & Games

A strong team of youth volunteers helped set up, serve food, and keep the day running smoothly, distributing meals and desserts to all guests. Beyond their service, youth and families had opportunities to connect through a range of activities: from badminton, volleyball, soccer, and baseball, to fun games with prizes that kept the energy high and encouraged friendly competition.

Food & Community Spirit

Once again, our community came together to prepare fresh Vietnamese rice rolls on site, complete with traditional toppings like bean sprouts, fried onions, Vietnamese sausage, and fish sauce. This hands-on tradition remains a crowd favorite, celebrating the flavors and hospitality at the heart of our culture.

Celebrating Our Mission

This year’s event was more than just a celebration—it was a reflection of VWAT Family Services’ mission to create inclusive spaces where newcomers, seniors, youth, and families can gather, share traditions, and feel a strong sense of belonging. Through food, dance, music, sports, and games, we honored the values of diversity, resilience, and community that continue to strengthen our shared Canadian identity.

The celebration also welcomed participants from diverse cultural backgrounds, reinforcing VWAT’s mission to build inclusive spaces where all communities can gather, share traditions, and feel a sense of belonging.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us in making the 3rd annual celebration a success, and we look forward to many more years of coming together in unity and pride.
