Do you have an idea for a project that could bring youth together, teach a new skill, address a community need, or make a positive difference?
Applications are now OPEN for Cohort 8 of the VWAT Leader Maker Microgrant Program!
We are offering two $5,000 microgrants to youth who are ready to turn their ideas into action.
What kind of project can I create?
We’re looking for projects that are planned and led by youth. This is your opportunity to get creative and design activities that actively engage other youth and make an impact in your community.
Your project could involve:
- Arts, music, dance, or creative expression
- Sports, recreation, or wellness activities
- STEM, technology, or hands-on learning
- Mental health, life skills, or personal development
- Cultural activities and workshops
- Environmental or community initiatives
- Skill-building workshops or educational programs
- Other creative ideas that bring youth together around a shared goal
We especially encourage projects where you create and lead the activities yourself, rather than projects focused mainly on excursions or attending existing activities.
Who can apply?
Applicants must:
- Be 15–30 years old
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
- Develop a project that engages at least 25 participants
- Complete 30+ hours toward planning and delivering the project
- Participate in required training and mentor check-ins
- Complete required surveys, receipts/expense tracking, and final reporting
You don’t need to have everything figured out before applying. If you have a strong idea and are willing to put in the work to develop it, we want to hear from you!
Funding
2 projects will be selected to receive $5,000 each.
The funding can help you purchase the materials, supplies, space, food, equipment, and other eligible expenses needed to bring your project to life.
