A Summer to Remember
VWAT’s Summer Camp continues to be one of our cornerstone programs, bringing together youth, families, and community year after year. We’re always encouraged to see so many returning campers, along with new faces, all excited to be part of a fun and welcoming environment.

This past summer, we ran four vibrant weeks of programming filled with engaging activities and memorable excursions. Behind each week was thoughtful planning to ensure a balance of creativity, physical activity, and meaningful engagement—giving campers the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow while having fun.
We are especially grateful for our dedicated team of 20 youth volunteers, who contributed as camp counsellors and office support. Their energy, leadership, and care played a vital role in creating a positive and safe experience for all our campers.

We were also fortunate to have Clark Le return as our Camp Leader this year. Coming back with greater experience and a strong sense of responsibility, Clark was committed to building on what he learned the previous summer. He showed up each day with consistency and leadership, actively engaging with campers while supporting counsellors in fulfilling their roles. His growth and dedication were evident throughout the program.
A special thank you goes to our microgrant recipient, Tinny Nguyen, who used his funding to enrich this year’s camp experience in meaningful ways. Tinny introduced Improv classes to our campers, sharing that Improv was what once helped him let his guard down, explore his creativity, and build self-confidence. He wanted to offer that same opportunity to our youth, creating a space where they could express themselves freely and have fun in the process.
Tinny also organized an a special excursion for campers to see a production of The Lion King. For many of our campers, this was their very first time attending a live theatre performance. We are incredibly grateful for Tinny’s thoughtfulness in expanding their experiences through such a well-loved story. He intentionally selected a family-friendly viewing to ensure that the children could fully enjoy and connect with the performance.

It was truly a wonderful summer. We hope our campers walked away with new friendships, exciting experiences, and lasting memories. We look forward to welcoming both returning and new campers again next year.
